Jakarta –

SOE Minister Erick Thohir wore traditional Lampung clothes while attending a virtual flag-lowering ceremony. This Lampung traditional dress itself was also worn by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) when he was the inspector of the proclamation ceremony.

Erick Thohir said the choice of Lampung traditional clothes would be the pride of the people of Lampung.

“The tradition of wearing the national dress when commemorating Independence Day has been started by President Jokowi since 2017, and it changes every year. This year, the Lampung traditional clothes are the President’s choice and it is clearly very proud of the people of Lampung and I personally as a son of the region because this directly introduces the rich culture of Lampung,” said Erick in his statement, Tuesday (17/8/2021).

Erick Thohir also wore traditional Lampung clothes on the anniversary of Independence last year. According to him, the traditional clothes reminded him of his father figure.

“Last year, during the Independence Day commemoration, I also wore traditional Lampung clothes. For me, wearing the Tulang Bawang clothing always reminds me of my late father who was born in Lampung, and also my roots,” explained Erick Thohir.

To note, the Lampung traditional dress is called the Bone Onion shirt. Bone Bawang clothes are usually worn on certain events, such as weddings. This shirt is divided into Lampung Pepadun and Lampung Saubatin. The striking difference between the two is the color dominance, where Lampung Pepadun is more identical with white while Lampung Saubatin is red.

Basically, there are several main components of Lampung traditional clothes worn by men and women. For men, this traditional dress consists of a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, tumpal sarong, sesapuran, and a final khikat.

On the 76th independence day of the Republic of Indonesia, detikcom also has an exciting event for detik.com, namely Parade 17an on detikcom which you can access.
